The Summer School on Diplomacy and International Negotiations was the 2nd Summer School edition of the UN Youth Association of Romania and was organized at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest as well, between the 23rd and 29th of July 2012. The Summer School was organized with the support of the Faculty of Law, the University of Bucharest, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Diplomatic Institute of Romania, Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Academy of Economic Studies, National School of Political and Administrative Studies and many partners and sponsors.
The theme of the Summer School was “Diplomacy and International Negotiations”, aiming to provide an educational tool, complementary to the academic experience obtained by the participants, in the study of diplomacy and international relations. Thus, the scope of the seminars was to help students develop their diplomatic skills and their capacity to negotiate at an international level, in order to prepare them for a future diplomatic career, offering them altogether the chance to apply what they have learned in a series of workshops where they were required to simulate an actual round of multilateral international negotiations. The participants of this edition also enjoyed the presence and knowledge of renowned members of the diplomatic corps of Romania or the academic environment, such as: HE Mr. Ambassador Ion M. Anghel, the President of the Association of Ambassadors and Career Diplomats in Romania at that time, HE Mr, Ambassador Liviu Aurelian Bota, the highest-ranked Romanian official in the UN structure in history, HE Mr. Ambassador Ion Diaconu, rapporteur for the UN Committee for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination at that time, HE Mr. Ambassador Cornel Feruta, General-Director in the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Mr. Gabriel Micu, Member of the Council of Directors of Romanian Association of Foreign Policy, Mr. Felix Zaharia, Diplomat with the International Law and Treaties Department at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and many others.
